| The year 2004 was a very busy year. The big event was our niece Lisa's graduation from Northern Illinois University in August. Trips across an ocean included Hawaii for an Internet2/ESnet Joint Techs meeting, a trip to Berlin and Geneva to announce recent experiments to provide very long distance Ethernet services, a trip to Cambridge, England to meet with the DICE group, and a trip to London for further discussions with the GEANT2 network. Along the way we obtained two new dogs, a yellow lab in Michigan and a black lab from our good friend Jane Laman in Manhattan, Kansas. We weren't planning on two new dogs, but timing provided the incentive. Many pictures of the young dogs are included herein. We also had wonderful family visits. In January, four generations were brought together and on the fourth of July we held a mini-family reunion. Our grandson Nolan celebrated his first Easter egg hunt, and his first birthday. I also had a great motorcylce ride (3000 miles) with Jerry Sobieski to Austin, Texas for the Internet2 member meeting. I don't ride fast enough for Jerry, but then things, unlike in Jerry's case, rarely fall off my bike. Finally, my mom celebrated her 80th birthday, and we had a wonderful vacation in San Diego with our great friends Carole and Larry. |
